A High-Performance Multifunctional Lubricant Additive for Water–Glycol Hydraulic Fluid

Abstract: A water-soluble boron (B)-containing thiophosphite derivative (BTP) was synthesized, and its tribological, anticorrosion, and antirust properties as an additive for the base liquid of water-glycol hydraulic fluid were evaluated in detail. The results of tests demonstrated that BTP is indeed a high-performance and multifunctional water-soluble lubricant additive that was able to remarkably improve the extreme pressure, friction-reducing, antiwear, anticorrosion, and rust-inhibiting properties of the base liquid… Show more

“…We can observe that all the RSOPE/W-EG solutions have anticorrosion properties for the copper surface and the corrosion grade were assigned as 1b. The copper strips immersed in RSOPE/W-EG solutions were no obvious corrosion and the color of the copper strips were still bright, indicating that the RSOPE additive in W-EG met the anti-corrosion requirements of WMCF for copper [17,18]. Fig.…”

“…Boron compounds are used extensively in a wide range of tribological applications as an environment-friendly friction modifier and antiwear additive. Both organic and inorganic boron compounds are used as a solid, liquid lubricant [ 145 , 146 , 147 ] and as a lubricant additive in organic and inorganic compounds [ 12 , 148 , 149 ]. Boron-based lubricants are mostly explored for industrial application as a solid or ionic liquid lubricant.…”
