Flexible multimodal sensors have gained increasing popularity for applications in healthcare and extreme environment operations owing to their all‐around environmental perception and data acquisition capabilities. However, fabricating a magnetism‐mechanics‐humidity multimodal sensor that possesses high sensitivity without signal overlapping while in a facile methodology remains a great challenge. Herein, a highly sensitive, conductive, and flexible hydrogel sponge sensor with discriminable magnetism, mechanics, and humidity sensing capability is proposed, which shows stable pore size (19.30 µm) and satisfactory mechanical properties based on the synergistic hydrogen bonding among sodium alginate, poly(vinyl alcohol) and glycerol. The proposed sensors can not only display favorable humidity sensing ability with rapid response/recovery time (2.5/4 s) but also possess enhanced sensitivities (a gauge factor of 0.46 T−1 for magnetic field, −1.16 kPa−1 for pressure), superior stability and durability (over 8000 cycles). Benefiting from the separated capacitive and resistive response signals, the sensors can precisely distinguish the magnetic, mechanical, and humidity stimuli without cross‐talk. Further, the sensor arrays assisted by the deep learning algorithm are developed to realize gesture language recognition with a high accuracy of 99.17%. It can be believed that this high‐performance sensor will have good prospects in future soft electronics and human‐machine interaction systems.

Aerogels are garnering considerable attention in biomedical fields due to their unique physicochemical properties. These materials are noted for their low density, high porosity, and customizable pore structures, making them highly suitable for applications such as drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and wound healing. They provide excellent platforms for loading drugs and active biomolecules. Consequently, research into the therapeutic potential of aerogels has surged, both in vitro and in vivo, reflecting an increased acknowledgment of their biomedical promise. Despite this growing body of research, detailed data on the in vivo performance and safety of aerogels remain sparse. While polymer‐based, silica‐based, and hybrid aerogels are generally deemed safe, there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding their acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity. This review presents a thorough examination of the biomedical applications of aerogels, exploring both conventional uses and innovative applications like decontamination. We assess the biological impacts of aerogels on cells and organisms, focusing on their therapeutic effectiveness and safety. Through this detailed review, we aim to highlight the current state of aerogel research in the biomedical field and pinpoint key areas where further investigation is needed to ensure their safe and effective use in medical applications.

Flexible sensors can measure various stimuli owing to their exceptional flexibility, stretchability, and electrical properties. However, the integration of multiple stimuli into a single sensor for measurement is challenging. To address this issue, the sensor developed in this study utilizes the natural biopolymers sodium alginate and carboxymethyl cellulose to construct a dual interpenetrating network, This results in a flexible porous sponge that exhibits a dual-modal response to strain and magnetic stimulation. The dual-mode flexible sensor achieved a maximum tensile strength of 429 kPa and elongation at break of 24.7%. It also exhibited rapid response times and reliable stability under both strain and magnetic stimuli. The porous foam sensor is intended for use as a wearable electronic device for monitoring joint movements of the body. It provides a swift and stable sensing response to mechanical stimuli arising from joint activities, such as stretching, compression, and bending. Furthermore, the sensor generates opposing response signals to strain and magnetic stimulation, enabling real-time decoupling of different stimuli. This study employed a simple and environmentally friendly manufacturing method for the dual-modal flexible sensor. Because of its remarkable performance, it has significant potential for application in smart wearable electronics and artificial electroskins.
