A hybrid feature selection approach for urinary tract infection detection and prediction in IoT-Fog environment

Anisha Nagpal,
Munish Sabharwal,
Rohit Tripathi

Abstract: Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are a prevalent health concern experienced by millions of individuals worldwide and have a significant impact on overall well-being. The clinical presentation of UTIs varies depending on their location and severity. Common symptoms include discomfort during urination, increased frequency, a compelling urge to urinate, discomfort in the lower abdomen, and the presence of blood in the urine (hematuria). Severe cases may be accompanied by fever, pain in the flank region, and other … Show more

“…Depending on their location and intensity, UTIs may appear differently. 33 More than 10 million people die each year due to bacterial contamination and quickly developing antibiotic resistance, which pose serious risks to public health and place a signicant nancial burden on healthcare systems. 34 The primary goal of antimicrobial therapy, which is the major course of treatment for UTIs, is to stop the growth of bacteria in the urinary system by using an antimicrobial agent that is effective, safe, and affordable.…”

“…37 Recently, a hybrid method for urinary tract infection detection has also been introduced that can aid in the prediction of UTIs. 33 Another kind of UTI detection technique is metagenomic sequencing, although this requires specialized personnel and can be expensive. 38 Recently, moving microcapillary antibiotic susceptibility testing (mcAST) was introduced, which uses microcapillaries to identify E. coli, and a smartphone for observation of the results.…”
