A location-to-segmentation strategy for automatic exudate segmentation in colour retinal fundus images

Abstract: The automatic exudate segmentation in colour retinal fundus images is an important task in computer aided diagnosis and screening systems for diabetic retinopathy. In this paper, we present a location-to-segmentation strategy for automatic exudate segmentation in colour retinal fundus images, which includes three stages: anatomic structure removal, exudate location and exudate segmentation. In anatomic structure removal stage, matched filters based main vessels segmentation method and a saliency based optic di… Show more

“…Locating the exudate region patches and segmenting the exudate from that patch is exhibited by Qing Liu et al [41]. The whole procedure is divided into three phases, an anatomic structure evacuation, matched filter based fundamental vessels division technique and a saliency based optic disc division strategy.…”

“…For example, the cup-to-disk ratio is used for the assessment of the progress of glaucoma [2,3] . On the other hand, the location of the OD facilitates the detection of fovea [4] , exudate segmentation [5] , etc. Numerous works about the OD segmentation have been proposed in the literature.…”
