“…The isotherms exhibit a sharp N 2 uptake at low relative pressures and a hysteresis loop in the region of high relative pressure, which correspond to the microporosity of the samples and the interspace between stacked MOF particles, respectively. In addition, BA-ZrBTB and ZrBTB possess the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface areas of 490 and 310 m 2 g –1 , respectively; these findings agree well with the characteristics of BA-ZrBTB and ZrBTB. , 1 H NMR spectra of digested MOF powders were used to confirm the amount of benzoate grafting on each hexazirconium cluster of BA-ZrBTB and the removal of benzoate after the acidic treatment of BA-ZrBTB. As shown in Figure d, three sets of peaks located at 7.3, 7.4, and 7.7 ppm originating from benzoic acid, and a peak at 7.85 ppm corresponding to 15 protons of the H 3 BTB linker, can be observed in the 1 H NMR spectrum of digested BA-ZrBTB.…”

“…By comparing electron untrapping energies in literature presented by Couet et al and the C4 model [50], it is the diffusivity of V •• O which is rate limiting, which we expect to outweigh any electronic effects. Further, it has been shown that oxygen vacancies are favourable for the stabilisation of the tetragonal ZrO 2 phase [52], thus we may expect the proportion of tetragonal to monoclinic ZrO 2 to be higher in samples containing greater amounts of Fe, Ni and Cr.…”

“…Usually, the corrosion (oxidation) takes place on the surface of Zr alloys in a high-temperature aqueous environment [34]. Therefore, it is believed that the corrosion of Zr alloys results from the diffusion of oxygen in oxide films toward the substrate.…”
