A method to measure the uniformity of the virtual image distance in an augmented reality or virtual reality device

Abstract: The virtual image distance in an augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) device is an important factor in determining its performance. In this paper, a method for measuring the virtual image distance and its uniformity is proposed. The setup for measurement consists of a two‐dimensional spatial sensor array on the translational stage and a pinhole array plate placed in front of the AR or VR device. As the distance between the pinhole plate and the two‐dimensional spatial sensor array were changed, the p… Show more

“…The exhibition hall scene roaming mainly realizes various types of control based on keyboard, VR handle, mobile phone touch screen, and so on, allowing users to browse freely in the virtual exhibition hall scene through the first person way [20] . Among them, the controllable first-person game object is a game object with a Character Controller component, an Audio Source component [21] , and a Camera subobject, which can walk freely through scripts.…”

“…However, the larger the field of view, the greater the distortion of the projected image, and different designs of optical systems will lead to different forms of distortion. The distortion of the image will not only affect the comfort and immersion of the observation, but also cause the observer to misjudge the image information [1] . Therefore, how to eliminate the distortion of the projected image of the near-eye optical system is an urgent problem to be solved.…”
