A methodology for module portfolio planning within the service solution layer of a product–service system

Abstract: Abstract:The key to solving contradiction between personalization and low cost is to realize the modularity of PSS. In order to achieve maximum customer satisfaction andthe lowest lifecycle cost for PSS, module portfolio of services solution layer of Product-service System(PSS) should be planned reasonably. Firstly, a methodology of module portfolio planning for PSS service solution layeris proposed, the methodology consists of four phases (including five steps), which namely are service needs acquisition phas… Show more

“…Servitization/PSS has received increasing interest from researchers. The current literature has studied servitization/PSS from various perspectives, such as the drivers and barriers of servitization (Vladimirova, 2012), PSS design (Sakao and Lindahl, 2009;Sakao and Mizuyama, 2014;Song and Sakao, 2017), PSS modularisation (Fargnoli et al, 2018;Li et al, 2018) and the sustainability features of PSS (Tukker 2004(Tukker , 2015.…”

From this broad business strategy, a unique niche of studies has emerged focused specifically on understanding and devising strategies for dealing with the so-called servitization paradox.…”

“…Third, for the SPS module partition based on the obtained correlation evaluation results, the efficiency of the previous partition methods, such as fuzzy clustering algorithm (Sun et al, 2017), mapping matrix (Li et al, 2012), fuzzy graph (Song et al, 2015;Song and Sakao, 2017), transitive closure method (Geng et al, 2019;Sheng et al, 2017) and morphological matrix (Li et al, 2018), would markedly decrease and easily suffered in local optima (Sayama et al, 2013). Most of these methods cannot be capable to acquire optimal SPS module partition schemes in terms of a larger calculation scale and workload, and to provide a visualization way to directly understand the partition process.…”
