A Micromachined Injection Device for CZE:  Application to Correlation CZE

Abstract: A micromachined injection device is described, which can be connected to a fused-silica capillary. This allows injection without interrupting the current, which is an advantage in CZE and essential in correlation CZE. A typical property is the excellent connection, with low dead volume, between the capillary and the microchip. This results in very good repeatability of the peak parameters as is demonstrated by conventional electrokinetic injections. Correlation CZE experiments showed a considerable improvement… Show more

“…Electrokinetic injection is one of the methods that can be used to randomly inject the sample and buffer solution. For example, this multiplex injection method has been demonstrated with cross-correlation CE using microchip technology (3,4). In addition, electrokinetic injection can be applied to several detection methods-absorbance, conventional fluorescence, and electrochemical.…”

“…This has been demonstrated for optical detection systems but has not yet been implemented on amperometric systems. Cross-correlation methods [20,21] are based on multiple injections. This does not need special hardware; however, the number of injections is extremely high.…”

“…In this technique, multiple sample injection according to a Hadamard code sequence derived from a Hadamard matrix was employed for CZE separation. Other studies involving crosscorrelation electrophoresis [14][15][16], Shah convolution Fourier transform electrophoresis [17][18][19], and modified HT microchip electrophoresis [20] have also been reported as techniques for improving the sensitivity in CZE using analogous mathematical transformations.…”
