A micromorphic phase-field model for brittle and quasi-brittle fracture

Abstract: Highlights• First micromorphic approach towards phase-field fracture modelling.• Phase-field is transformed to a local quantity and micromorphic variable regularises the problem.• Model admits point-wise (local) treatment of fracture irreversibility.• System precision fracture irreversibility achieved.• Dimension of the problem remains same as conventional phase-field models.• Numerical experiments carried out on benchmark brittle and quasi-brittle fracture problems.
