Abstract:Cellulosomes are efficient enzymatic nanomachines which have arisen for the degradation of cellulosic biomass. They are found abundantly in soil-dwelling microbes and bacteria which thrive in the stomachs of ruminant mammals. Two protein domains, cohesins and dockerins, characterise cellulosomes.
