In this paper, a Wilkinson 8-port unequal power splitter with symmetric power division among corresponding ports is investigated. Simulation and fabrication results show desirable power transmission at central frequency of 9.68GHz. This power splitter has transmission power of -13.25dB at corresponding ports 2 and 9, -11.4dB at ports 3 and 8, -10.36dB at ports 4 and 7, -9.7dB at ports 5 and 6. In addition, the proposed power splitter is suitable for feeding the array antenna due to its -16dB return loss and it minimizes return loss.

The analysis and design methods of a broadband coplanar Wilkinson power divider are proposed in this paper. The novelty is that cascaded two sections of coupled asymmetrical coplanar strips (ACPSs) are utilized to obtain broadband performance over X‐band and two resistors are used for isolation. The design equations are derived using even‐ and odd‐mode analysis. The specific structure parameters for broadband performance over X‐band are obtained through electronic design simulation tool and quasi‐static conformal mapping technique. The power divider is fabricated on GaAs substrate and is compatible with GaAs MMIC process. The measured results of the power divider show close agreement with the simulation. The measured return loss S11 is better than −15 dB across the entire X‐band, 8–12 GHz. Good dividing and high isolation properties are also revealed through measurements. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 59:307–312, 2017

We present a novel unequal power divider with bandpass responses. The proposed power divider consists of five resonators and a resistor. The power division ratio is controlled by altering the coupling strength among the resonators. The output ports have the characteristic impedance of 50 Ω and impedance transformers in classical Wilkinson power dividers are not required in this design. Use of resonators enables the filtering function of the power divider. Two transmission zeros are generated near the passband edges, resulting in quasielliptic bandpass responses. For validation, a 2 : 1 filtering power divider is implemented. The fabricated circuit size is 0.22λg × 0.08λg, featuring compact size for unequal filtering power dividers, which is suitable for the feeding networks of antenna arrays.
