“…Li et al. synthesized a mitochondria‐targeting two‐photon fluorescent probe 60 for simultaneous imaging of viscosity and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) [89] . Probe 60 consisted of naphthalene as the two‐photon fluorophore, pyridinium cation as the targetable moiety, phenylboronic acid pinacol ester as the H 2 O 2 responsive unit (Figure 28).…”

“…[ 231 ] In 2019, Li et al designed the two‐photon fluorescent probe 146 (Mito‐LX, Figure 23) for the detection of mitochondrial H 2 O 2 level and viscosity ( Figure A). [ 246 ] Absorption of probe 146 was not susceptible to solutions of different viscosities, such as methanol and glycerin. No fluorescence was observed in methanol, whereas, it displayed a strong fluorescence signal with a high proportion of glycerol.…”

“…[ 28 ] Very recently, Liu and coworkers reported a single NIR fluorescent probe with a large Stokes shift for simultaneous imaging of mitochondrial viscosity and H 2 O 2 in Alzheimer's disease models. [ 31 ] To the best of our knowledge, only these three dual‐imaging fluorescent probes have been developed for monitoring both mitochondrial viscosity and H 2 O 2 , and the limited diseases models prevent us from delving into the intrinsic relationship between viscosity/H 2 O 2 and mitochondria‐ associated diseases due to the lack of suitable fluorescent probes and research on multiple diseases models, such as inflammation and malignant tumor models.…”
