A mixed-model multi-objective analysis of strategic supply chain decision support in the Thai silk industry

Abstract: This paper presents a methodology for combined usage of data envelopment analysis (DEA), analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and extended goal programming (EGP) in order to provide managerial decision support. The methodology allows the three techniques to be used in a coordinated manner to give an enhanced level of holistic decision support. DEA is first used in a descriptive sense in order to provide information regarding the efficiency of a set of units. The AHP is then used in order to determine the importa… Show more

“…AHP and goal programming were used to determine the importance of the criteria in efficiency levels. 14 The studies combining DEA and TOPSIS are similar to the studies combining DEA and AHP, since AHP and TOPSIS are two techniques that might be substituted for one another. Nonetheless, the use of TOPSIS for ranking the efficiency of units determined with DEA was much more common compared to studies combining DEA and AHP.…”

“…Moreover, it provides a measure for consistency within the judgments of the decision-makers. 14 Specifically, the strength of AHP compared to DEA is that AHP allows working with both qualitative and quantitative data. On the other hand, AHP is not effective when there is more than one objective that should be met at the same time, which is critical in performance evaluation.…”

“…The relevant criteria and their relative importance are elicited from the decision makers via pairwise comparisons of the AHP technique. The standard processes of the AHP are also utilized here, such as inconsistency checking and resolution [40].…”
