A Model-Driven DevOps Framework for QoS-Aware Cloud Applications

Abstract: Recently we witnessed a deep transformation in the the design, development and management of modern applications, which have grown in scope and size becoming distributed and service-oriented. A big part in this metamorphosis is played by the Cloud with the availability of almost-infinite resources, high availability and outsourced maintenance. This has led to the emergence of new software development methodologies to effectively deal with this paradigm shift in the field of software engineering. DevOps is one … Show more

“…In another study, the researchers introduced an integrated DevOps framework responsible for design-time modeling as well as optimization, and runtime control [24], so as to minimize the costs of implementing cloud applications that have embedded QoS guarantee. The modeling of the application chosen to evaluate included important aspects of cloud computing, such as variable workload, congestion due to multiple rents, and performance fluctuations.…”

“…In the following section, we review the proposed models in relation to the techniques and list most of the QoS parameters that have been used in prior related works. [12], [21], [24], [27], [29], [30], [31], [34], [35], [38], [39], [43], [44], [46], [48], [51], [52] 16%…”

“…Goals are defined as transitions from original to destination state. Recently, the SPACE4CLOUD tool was extended to provide optimal runtime scaling decisions limited to replication DoF [34], while Moldovan et al [49] provided a cost model for resource replication that is more aligned with public Cloud offerings.…”

“…DevOps is a software development culture that tries to eliminate the lack of collaboration between development and operations teams (Mahanta et al, 2016;Chen, 2019) by teaming them up to promote cooperation, collaboration and communication (Guerriero et al, 2016;Silva et al, 2018).…”
