A model for leptogenesis at the TeV scale

Abstract: We consider the mechanism of thermal leptogenesis at the TeV scale in the context of an extension of the Standard Model with 4 generations and the inclusion of four right-handed Majorana neutrinos. We obtain a value for the baryon asymmetry of the Universe in accordance with observations by solving the full set of coupled Boltzmann equations for this model.

“…Reference [65] considered the BE for the asymmetries in B/3 − L α , but did not emphasize that the results were significantly different from the single flavour approximation. In subsequent years, various authors [173,207,208] noticed that flavour effects could be used to enhance the baryon asymmetry in particular models. The flavoured BE are given in [66].…”

“…Hence this type of "off-shell" contributions are not taken into account by ordinary methods. 16 15 See the footnote of the section 3.2. Propagations of a single Ni corresponds to propagations of a single mass eigenstate with mass Mi and width Γi.…”

“…It is why we call this contrition as "on-shell". 16 In the evolution equation of the lepton number, "off-shell" contributions can be interpreted as the interference terms in the (inverse)decay process of the superposition of different mass eigenstates.…”

“…Nevertheless, non-minimal seesaw models can be built, with m N ∼ 1 TeV or smaller, if some approximate flavor symmetry suppresses the ∼Y 2 v 2 /2m N contribution from the seesaw [448][449][450]. These models can also provide a successful leptogenesis (see, for instance, [451][452][453][454]). Heavy neutrinos with masses near the electroweak scale can be produced at the next generation of colliders (see [455] for a review) if their couplings to the SM fermions and gauge bosons is not too small, or through new non-standard interactions.…”
