Abstract:Background: The cut-and-sew maze (CSM) procedure has excellent efficacy for the elimination of long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) concomitant with mitral valve surgery. Because of the complexity and prolongation of cardiopulmonary bypass, CSM has not been widely used.
