A mucus-inspired solvent-free carbon dot-based nanofluid triggers significant tribological synergy for sulfonated h-BN reinforced epoxy composites

Abstract: The tribological properties of the epoxy were significantly improved due to the tribological synergy of biomimetic F-CDs and sulfonated h-BN.

“…The signal peaks at 709.04 and 711.5 eV indicate that the surface of the carbon steel mainly contains FeCl 2 and Fe 2 O 3 , while the XPS of the F-DN coated carbon steel (Figure S6a) shows signal peaks of Fe, FeO, and Fe 2 O 3 at 705.8, 709.6, and 713.0 eV. 55,56 This suggests that the F-DN coated carbon steel may undergo slight oxidation at this time. From the Raman spectrum of the carbon steel surface (Figure 7e), characteristic peaks of Fe 2 O 3 can be seen at 216 cm −1 , 285 cm −1 , 395 cm −1 , 606 cm −1 , and 1306 cm −1 , while no signal peaks were detected in the Raman spectrum of the F-DN coated carbon steel (Figure S6b).…”

“…In the last decade, several scientific breakthroughs have been made in two-dimensional (2D) materials, 1–5 including graphene, 6–19 hexagonal boron nitride ( h -BN), 20–48 transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), 49–66 layered double hydroxides (LDHs), 67–74 metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), 75–79 black phosphorus (BP), 80–87 and so many others. 88–116 In particular, 2D h -BN, a geometrical analogue to graphene, is extensively studied due to its distinctive chemical and physical features.…”
