Abstract:Based on fieldwork and examination of herbarium specimens, a new Andean species, Merostachys nigricans, from the humid montane forest of Bolivia is described and illustrated. We provide notes about distribution, habitat, ecology, conservation status, phenology, common names, uses, and taxonomic affinities with M. ramosa and M. yungasensis.
