Abstract:Shrink-fit connections often experience detachment of the contact surface as speed increases, resulting in a separation distance that determines the interference fit. This study proposes a new approach to investigate the relationship between contact stiffness at the microscale and macroscopic interference in shrink-fit connections between the journal and bearing of high-speed spindles. A model for contact stiffness and macroscopic interference is established, and the results indicate that contact stiffness var… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
