Abstract: Surface water is frequently contaminated by the trace metals, in particular lead and zinc, produced by mining activities. The infiltration of this water is likely to pollute surface soils and ground water.

“…On the other hand, PHE bioavailability can be dictated by various physicochemical factors (e.g., pH, Eh) as well as physiological variations (Barkouch et al, 2007;Kabata-Pendias, 2011;Skordas & Kelepertsis, 2005;Yang et al, 2004;Zhao et al, 2013Zhao et al, , 2014. For these reasons, in this study the standard indices have been coupled with a more comprehensive calculation, the robust compositional soil contamination Index (RCCI) which tries to identify the pollution level taking into account the compositional character of the data (Petrik et al, 2018a;Reyes et al, 2019).…”

“…From washed hair [2,9] with nitric acid 10% four times for 10 min then rinsed with acetone three times for 10 min and dried, a test portion of approximately 50 mg is weighed exactly and then introduced into a polystyrene tube and added with 1 mL of nitric acid 8N [3,10,11]. The sealed tube is kept at room temperature for 24 hours; during this preliminary phase, the bulk of the sample is dissolved in the acid.…”

“…It has good microbiological and biological properties in general and as such requires minimal treatment. Actually, a variety of human activities -notably industrial and mining process -have been responsible for the wider diffusion of heavy metals into this type of water [10].…”
