A new biometric identity recognition system based on a combination of superior features in finger knuckle print images

Abstract: Biometric methods are among the safest and most secure solutions for identity recognition and verification. One of the biometric features with sufficient uniqueness for identity recognition is the finger knuckle print (FKP). This paper presents a new method of identity recognition and verification based on FKP features, where feature extraction is combined with an entropy-based pattern histogram and a set of statistical texture features. The genetic algorithm (GA) is then used to find the superior features amon… Show more

“…Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves is great tools for evaluating the performance of a biometric system. This diagram can be plotted by drawing True Positive Rate (TPR) versus False Positive Rate (FPR) for all thresholds [24]. Figure 8 depicted the ROC of the presented approach compared to the four CNN models.…”

“…One of its types has been used and is still used in paper and electronic applications, which is the fingerprint [1,2]. In addition to many other finger biometrics such as the finger inner knuckle [3,4], finger outer knuckles [5,6], Finger Geometry [7,8], Finger Texture (FT) [9][10][11], and the finger vein (FV) [12,13] which is discussed in this work. Moreover, many studies have applications for the fusion of more than one biometric such as [14,15].…”

“…Biometrics is another application in image processing that refers to advancements that use physiological or behavioural characteristics of the human body to verify clients. There are two modes to the biometric verification system [1]. Enrollment and Acknowledgement are two terms that are often used interchangeably.…”
