Abstract:The resonant frequency of flexural vibration for an atomic force microscope (AFM) cantilever has been investigated using the Timoshenko beam theory. In this paper the dynamic behavior of vibrational modes based on Timoshenko beam theory by consideration the effects of contact position, the height of the tip, thickness of the beam, and the angle between the cantilever and the sample surface on the nondimensional resonant frequency have been investigated for the rectangular AFM cantilevers. The results show that… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
