“…This study attempts to develop a conceptual framework for explaining the three-fold physical integration in the Iranian traditional bazaars that have served as the backbone of the historical cities The findings show that physical integration has a morphological dimension related to the concept of morphology and urban form. From Trancik's perspective, the relationship between mass and space in an urban context is such that space functions as the main essence of the integrity in a bazaar structure, while such buildings as Caravanserais, Saras, Madrassahs and Hammams define the mass (Lak and Hakimian, 2018). Thus, a set of positive urban spaces (Trancik, 1986) in a bazaar are connected through its Rastehs (as chains), making it a coherent and integrated whole.…”
