A New MPPT Technique for Fast and Efficient Tracking under Fast Varying Solar Irradiation and Load Resistance

Abstract: The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is a strategy that allows imposing the PV array operation point on the maximum power point (MPP) or close to it under any environmental condition. The conventional incremental conductance (INC) algorithm is the most popular algorithm. But due to the fixed step size, its response speed is low under the rapid change of the solar irradiation level or load resistance. In this paper, a new MPPT technique is proposed to enhance the response speed. It consists of two stages: (1… Show more

“…The first (I) controller belongs to the PV converter by its MPPT controller. Solar cells from the PV systems are nonlinear characteristics and are considered to operate the maximum power point (MPP) under those changes [38]. The most forceful method for better harvesting energy from PV cells is the MPPT technique.…”

“…In this system, PV and the storage device models are developed in order to make the HEM system to operate in integration with the renewable energy resources. To track the maximum power from the solar panel, MPPT technique [15] has been applied which manages the operating point of the array in such a way that 2…”

“…When |∆P | is largger than P thres , it indicates that irradiance or load changes suddenly. It is necessary to determine the cause of the power deviation by using the voltage difference ∆V , current difference ∆I and power difference ∆P , as presented in Table 2 [35].…”
