A new National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation

Abstract

On July 2, 2021, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on the adoption of the new National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation. It is the third document under that name to have been adopted in Russia since 2009. This paper focuses on the presentation of the latest national security strategy of Russia, with a review of the similarities and differences from the previous two documents, as well as the geopolitical implications that the adoption of the latest strategy may cause.
