A New One-Dimensional Chaotic Map and Its Use in a Novel Real-Time Image Encryption Scheme

Abstract: We present a new one-dimensional chaotic map, suitable for real-time image encryption. Its theoretical analysis, performed using some specific tools from the chaos theory, shows that the proposed map has a chaotic regime and proves its ergodicity, for a large space of values of the control parameter. In addition, to argue for the good cryptographic properties of the proposed map, we have tested the randomness of the values generated by its orbit using NIST statistical suite. Moreover, we present a new image en… Show more

“…For example, the authors used two 1D chaotic Logistic maps to generate the pseudorandom sequence for image encryption in [11]. Boriga et al presented a new 1D chaotic map for real-time 2 Complexity image encryption [12]. However, since the 1D chaotic systems usually have only one variable and a few parameters, along with relatively simple structures and chaotic orbits, it is easy to estimate the orbits and to predict the initial values and/or parameters by little information extracted from them [13].…”

“…(16) A value close to 0 of MSE indicates a good quality of the decryption process [10], while other value indicates the occurrence of error in this process. In all tests performed using proposed scheme, the value of MSE was 0 for each RGB color channel, which indicates that decryption is carried out without any loss of information.…”

“…The computing results provide better performances compared to those obtained in [4,51]. In addition, we use simple logistic map instead of complex ones proposed in [5,32,51,54,55]. Therefore the proposed algorithm is easily implementable and more suitable for image encryption applications.…”
