A new patch antenna for ultra wide band communication applications

Abstract: <span>A printed monopole patch Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna for use in UWB application is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna consists of a patch with appropriate dimensions on one side of a dielectric substrate, and a partial ground plane on the other side of the substrate. The techniques that used to enhance the bandwidth are the partial ground plane, feed point position and adjusted feed gap. The substrate that is used in the proposed antenna is Fr4 epoxy, the optimum dimensions of the anten… Show more

“…Moreover, the distance between the far edges of the slots is 14 mm. On the other hand, based on [32] conclusion the antenna feed gap affecting the bandwidth, therefor the feedline is placed on the other side of the antenna, facing the trapezoid lower side with a length and width of 15 mm 3 mm, respectively. As seen in Table 1 that shows the summery of dimenssions of the proposed antenna.…”

“…There are also have another patch antenna type but not apply yet in seawater. The previous work was dielectric dense patch antenna applied in zamzam water [11], P-shape patch antenna applied for radar, mobile and others wireless communication [12] and monopole patch antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) application [13]. Future research to use these previous work antennas and apply it in seawater to find the new gain that antenna will obtain.…”

“…These UWB antennas are constructed in different designs such as dipole and monopole/logarithmic antenna. In UWB applications, the monopole antennas are considered due to its various advantages such as simple structure, easy fabrication, good radiation, and ultra-wide band frequency [10]- [11]. The fractal geometry shape is used as antenna shapes instead of the euclidean geometries because of its space filling property, also, this fractal geometry is used to obtain the multi-band operation and miniaturization [12]- [14].…”
