A new simple score for prediction of difficult laryngoscopy: the EL.GA+ score

Abstract: Preoperative airway assessment plays a key role in the context of difficult airway management. There is no general agreement that clarifies unambiguously and precisely how to conduct this assessment, and above all, which anatomical and physio logical parameters must be taken into account for its correct execution. The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) recommended conducting the preoperative assessment of the airways based on 11 anatomical variables, without hierarchising the various variables for eff… Show more

“…The specific reasons are as follows: predictive care is a purposeful and planned predictive care activity that encourages patients consciously accept the knowledge that is good for health, and form healthy behaviors, adjust lifestyles, and then help disease recovery. [15] In this study, for patients with chronic cervicitis, the experimental group adopted consistent predictive care, focusing on the continuity and continuity of predictive care, providing professional guidance from initial diagnosis to after treatment, and paying attention to follow-up work after treatment. [16] At the same time, targeted education is carried out according to the degree of patient understanding, which effectively improves the awareness of patient knowledge, and guides patients’ prognosis life during follow-up work, helps patients develop good living habits, improves their confidence in treatment, and promotes disease recovery.…”

“…The El-Ganzouri risk index test was first published in 1996 and is still in use today; it uses a total score of 4 points as a cutoff in predicting difficult airway [15]. Subsequent papers set the score of 3-4 points as a significant cutoff in predicting a difficult airway that warrants the use of videolaryngoscopy, while scores higher than 7 mandate the use of fiberoptic intubation [16][17][18][19][20][21].…”

En todos los pacientes de ambos grupos en los que se encontró una intubación difícil esta fue previamente predicha en la evaluación preanestésica y se disponía de los medios necesarios para su resolución sin que se produjera ninguna incidencia.…”
