A new species and a new record of the genus Homidia Börner, 1906 from East China (Collembola: Entomobryidae)

Abstract: A new species, Homidia apigmenta n. sp. from East China is described. It is easily separated from the other Homidia species by absence of pigment on the dorsal tergites, presence of leaf-like modified setae on labium and ventral part of head, particular chaetotaxy of macrochaetae on posterior side of Abd. “…For microscopic study of entire individuals, specimens were cleared in Marc André I fluid (Massoud 1967), then mounted in Hoyer's medium and examined with brightfield, differential interference‐contrast, or phase‐contrast microscopes. Dorsal chaetotaxy was diagnosed following Szeptycki (1973, 1979), Jordana and Baquero (2005) and Shi et al . (2010), and dens base after Chen and Li (1997).…”

“…A year later, Lee and Kim (1990) reported five new species and two new records in family Neanuridae. In 2010, a subspecies of Homidia (Entomobryidae) was re-described and elevated to species level (Shi et al 2010). Moreover, several new records were sporadically reported (Yosii 1966(Yosii , 1982Zhao et al 1997).…”
