Abstract: Flexoelectricity is the intrinsic length‐scale dependent higher‐order electromechanical response of all centro‐ and non‐centro‐symmetric dielectrics, including piezoelectrics. Direct flexoelectricity is defined as the appearance of an electric field due to induced strain gradients.
