A Novel Core-shell Structured Nickel-rich Layered Cathode Material for High-energy Lithium-ion Batteries

Abstract: For enhancing the electrochemical properties of lithium transition-metal oxide, a novel core-shell structured cathode material LiNi Co Mn O @V O was designed and synthesized. The precursor of the material was made of metal hydroxide in the interior and metal 0.75 0.12 0.13 2 2 5 carbonate in the exterior, and with full concentration gradient structure. In this cathode material, the core was the high-Ni material, and the shell was the high-Mn material. The sphere material was coated and penetrated by V O due to… Show more

“…18 Alternatively, performance can be improved using a coreshell structure, or a core-gradient-shell structure. [260][261][262][263][264][265][266][267] The idea behind a core-shell particle is to have high energy density cathode material in the core, surrounded by a more stable, yet still active, cathode material to protect the core from degradation (Fig. 22a-c).…”

“…From the first commercialization in 1991, the lithium-ion battery has been a core energy technology and it has been continuously researched for several decades for the development of the future energy market. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Lithium is attracting attention as it is a key element of lithium-ion batteries. However, lithium is not evenly distributed around the world and is a limited element.…”

“…The "inorganic acid + reducing agent" system is widely used, but harmful gases will be produced in the process of acid leaching, and the waste acid aer leaching is difficult to treat, which will pose potential harm to the environment. 19,20 At this time, the leaching system "organic acid + reducing agent" emerges as required in modern times. Therefore, research using organic acid systems for efficient recovery spent LIBs has become a new research focus.…”
