A Novel Cyclodextrin-Functionalized Hybrid Silicon Wastewater Nano-Adsorbent Material and Its Adsorption Properties

Abstract: A novel cyclodextrin-functionalized hybrid silicon nano-adsorbent material (6-EA-β-CD-Si) was synthesized via the nucleophilic substitution method. The structure was detected by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray, thermogravimetric analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. Results reveal that the BET surface area of 6-EA-β-CD-Si is 240 m2/g and the average pore size is 4.16 nm. The adsorption properties of 6-EA-β-CD-Si onto methylene blue (MB) were studied and fitted with adsorption kinetic m… Show more

“…In the industrial field, SiNPs have been used for organic synthesis, semiconductor production, energy application, and sewage treatment. [1][2][3][4] In the biomedical field, SiNPs are applied for food safety inspection, parasite diagnosis, molecular probes, imaging diagnosis, promotion of vascular regeneration, and oncotherapy, etc. [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Synthetic SiNPs can enter the bodies of patients and healthy people through the skin, the respiratory tract, the digestive tract, and medical exposure, thus raising a biosafety concern about this nanomaterial.…”

“…The disposal of dye-contaminated wastewater, which is produced by the industrial fabrication of textiles, paints, printed materials, pharmaceuticals, food, hair dyes, leather, electronics, cosmetics, and so on, is one of the most pressing global challenges [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. The contaminants are divided into two categories: natural dyes and synthetic dyes.…”
