Abstract:Metabarcoding of environmental DNA (eDNA) has revolutionized the detection of aquatic species across large geographic scales. However, the effectiveness of eDNA metabarcoding across taxa is marker-dependent, often requiring multiple markers to detect divergent taxonomic groups. Here, we introduce a novel metabarcoding marker designed to simultaneously detect amphibians, turtles, and fish from eDNA samples. We initially optimized this marker to match species from central and southern California, USA, and conduc… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
