A Novel Energy Efficient Routing Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: Wireless sensor networks are employed in several applications, including military, medical, environmental and household. In all these applications, energy usage is the determining factor in the performance of wireless sensor networks. Consequently, methods of data routing and transferring to the base station are very important because the sensor nodes run on battery power and the energy available for sensors is limited. In this paper we intend to propose a new protocol called Fair Efficient Location-based Goss… Show more

“…In 2011, Norouzi et al [24] proposed a new protocol called Fair Efficient Location-based Gossiping to address the problems of Gossiping. We showed how our approach increases the network energy and as a result maximizes the network life time with using GA.…”

“…Region-based routing, each node only needs to know its own, the source node's and the destination node's location information, predetermines an ellipse area and transmits data by flooding [9]. All the nodes in this area should transmit the low power and ensure the communication between source node and destination node.…”

“…Upon receiving the packet, the node as next hop repeats the information gathering phase and routing phase to transmit the packet to another node as shown in figure 4(c). The process continues until the packet reaches the sink or the TTL is finished [14].…”

“…For routine data packets, we had chosen Fair Efficient Location-based Gossiping (FELGossiping) protocol [14]. FELGossiping protocol consists of two phases for sending the packets to sink node, first information gathering phase and then routing phase.…”
