A Novel Hybrid Crypto-Biometric Authentication Scheme for ATM Based Banking Applications

Abstract: Abstract. This paper studies the smartcard based fingerprint encrytion/authentication scheme for ATM banking systems. In this scheme, the system authenticates each user by both his/her possession (smartcard) and biometrics (fingerprint). A smartcard is used for the first layer of authentication. Based on the successful pass of the first layer authentication, a subsequent process of the biometric fingerprint authentication proceeds. The proposed scheme is fast and secure. Computer simulations and statistical an… Show more

“…Our proposed ISA image scrambling scheme is more than 100 times faster than that of the popular AES, which renders it a suitable candidate for realtime encryption of large digital medical images. For secure distribution of the scrambling key, a bio-cryptosystem can be deployed (Han et al, 2005;Wang et al, 2007).…”

“…More complex attractors may further improve unpredictability (Yalc -ın et al, 2004). In our previous work, multi-scroll chaotic attractors have been found (Han et al, 2003(Han et al, , 2005(Han et al, , 2007. In the following, a method is proposed to generate TRNs from these multi-scroll chaotic attractors.…”

“…A prototype model for the utilization of biometrics equipped in an ATM is developed to provide security solution against the well-known breaches. Han's et al had studied the smartcard based on fingerprint encryption/authentication scheme for ATM banking systems [22]. In this scheme, a system authenticates users by both their possession (smartcard) and biometrics (fingerprint).…”
