Abstract:Lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) are a major cause of death among immunocompromised patients. Human parainfluenza viruses (hPIVs) are non‐segmented, negative‐stranded RNA viruses that frequently give rise to these infections. In order to transcribe genes or replicate their genomes, these viruses encode three major genes: a nucleocapsid (N), a phosphoprotein (P) and a large RNA‐dependent RNA polymerase (L). P is indispensable for transcription and replication as it positions L at the replication/trans… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
