A novel interval‐based formulation for optimal scheduling of microgrids with pumped‐hydro and battery energy storage under uncertainty

Abstract: Summary Nowadays, microgrids are emerging as an invaluable framework for the integration of renewable energy sources and demand response programs. In such systems, energy storage facilities are also frequently deployed to properly manage surplus energy from renewable sources on pursuing more efficient management of the system. Hybrid storage systems in which various storage facilities are combined may result in a more effective solution than only considering one storage technology. This way, the good features … Show more

“…Also, a stochastic-interval model was presented by [25] for the optimal operation of charging stations, considering optimistic and pessimistic strategies. In the presence of pumped-hydro and battery energy storage systems, Ahmadi et al [26] presented an interval-based model coping with the uncertainties. Considering the failure of components, Tostado-Véliz et al [27] proposed an optimal scheduling model for isolated microgrids based on a stochastic-IGDT framework, which is robust against failures.…”

“…Researchers worldwide employ renewable energy systems to achieve the best cost via economic and technical scalability. 8 Expect a more dramatic introduction of renewable energy systems at a competitive price now at energy market promote the use of RER widely. The grid infrastructure is used to bring power to cities, but in rural regions, it is either too expensive or too complicated to use.…”
