A novel long-wavelength fluorescent probe for discrimination of different palladium species based on Pd-catalyzed reactions

Abstract: We have synthesized a novel long-wavelength fluorescent probe MFC for detection of palladium (Pd 0 ). This probe not only shows high selectivity for palladium, but also could quickly discriminate different palladium) in phosphate buffered solution. After the reaction with Pd(PPh 3 ) 4 , the UV absorption of the probe MFC shifts from 334 nm to 594 nm within a few minutes. The probe MFC conjugated with alkyl carbamate, which destroys the principle of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) and shows weak fluorescen… Show more

“…from cheap starting materials and in high reaction yields (85-90%). [60][61][62][63] As far as the synthesis of dyes is concerned, synthetic approaches that do not require the use of transition metal catalysts, drastic reaction conditions (inert atmosphere, anhydrous solvents, low temperature reactions) and the use of expensive reagents are also highly appealing. In this field, one of the simplest way to produce push-pull dyes is the Claisen-Schmidt condensation, consisting in the coupling an aldehyde with an acceptor possessing an activated methyl group under basic conditions.…”
