A novel MCDM model for prioritizing the renewable power plants’ construction

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a new multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique to determine the priority of renewable power plants construction conceding technical, economic, social, political and environmental aspects. Design/methodology/approach First, a comprehensive set of 5 main criteria of technical, economic, social, political and environmental are considered for renewable power plants construction, each including 5 sub-criteria (a total of 25 sub-criteria). Then, the analytic h… Show more

“…Azhar, et al take the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) of the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Analysis as a tool to rank the technical, economic, and environmental criteria of the renewable and conventional energy power plants [21]. Sedady and Beheshtinia employ the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method to obtain the priority of renewable power plants construction at the technical, economic, social, political, and environmental degrees [22].…”

“…The structure of a smart grid is highly complicated with high penetration of renewable generation, contains lots of nonlinear or sensitive loads, and requires power supply with higher quality and stability (Pourmousavi et al, 2014;Sedady and Beheshtinia, 2019).…”

“…Renewables have undergone rapid growth globally and supply 40% of the world's energy. They are expected to play a major role in the future power generation by 2040 (Cai and Braun 2019;Sedady and Beheshtinia, 2019). However, the integration of large-scale renewable energy affects the power system in many ways.…”

“…Secondly, there are various studies that use MCDM methods. Let us note, that DEA and MCDM methods found wide areas of applications such as, for instance, for supplier selection (Beheshtinia & Nemati-Abozar, 2017), for prioritizing renewable power plants' construction (Sedady & Beheshtinia, 2019), or for evaluating the quality of hospital services (Torkzad & Beheshtinia, 2019). However, in the following the literature review only considers respective studies in the field of banking.…”
