A Novel Mobile-Coverage Scheme for Hybrid Sensor Networks

Abstract: In this paper, a novel Mobile-Coverage scheme is proposed to improve the coverage and lifetime of hybrid sensor networks, and thus the target region can be completely covered with minimum number of mobile sensor nodes and the energy consumption can be reduced in hybrid sensor networks at the same time. Our scheme is applied to a hybrid network comprising of both static and mobile sensor nodes, which are randomly deployed in a rectangle area. We derived the minimum number of sensor nodes as well as the mobile n… Show more

“…Additionally, SOMs are particularly effective in cases where the data set is large and complex 18 . By having the ability to automatically classify data sets, SOMs can help save time and resources for businesses that would otherwise have to spend a significant amount of time and effort classifying data manually 19 . Competitive learning is a progression that dispenses a massive amount of information in clusters based on inherent input data.…”

“…18 By having the ability to automatically classify data sets, SOMs can help save time and resources for businesses that would otherwise have to spend a significant amount of time and effort classifying data manually. 19 Competitive learning is a progression that dispenses a massive amount of information in clusters based on inherent input data. This process is accomplished through the use of a self-organizing neural network that requires minimal user intervention and has a relatively low computational cost.…”

“…In view of the general virtual force algorithm's shortcomings, such as uneven distribution of nodes and more overlap of coverage area, Liu et al [16] proposed a virtual molecular force algorithm to maximize the coverage of network. Qi et al proposed a novel mobile-coverage scheme to cover the target region with a minimal number of mobile sensor nodes [17]. Inspired by the dust plasma crystallization phenomenon, Tang et al proposed a 3D deployment algorithm and investigated the parametric effects of the Debye length for network coverage [18].…”
