Abstract:The design of separation systems for the purification of azeotropic mixtures is of great importance in the chemical industries from economic and environmental points of view. Two novel reactive-extractive distillation (RED) processes, new design (I) and new design (II), were proposed for separating the azeotropic mixture of water/methanol/tetrahydrofuran (THF). These processes were compared to a conventional extractive distillation (ED) process. New design (I) employs dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent, while new… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
