A Novel Robust Smart Energy Management and Demand Reduction for Smart Homes Based on Internet of Energy

Abstract: In residential energy management (REM), Time of Use (ToU) of devices scheduling based on user-defined preferences is an essential task performed by the home energy management controller. This paper devised a robust REM technique capable of monitoring and controlling residential loads within a smart home. In this paper, a new distributed multi-agent framework based on the cloud layer computing architecture is developed for real-time microgrid economic dispatch and monitoring. In this paper the grey wolf optimiz… Show more

“…In [48], the authors establish an optimization model for Time of Use or ToU programming for Residential Energy Management (REM). Thus, this model can determine the energy consumption preferences of certain kind of sensors; this is of extreme importance to manage a small internal smart grid for domestic consumption.…”

“…However, the distributed control for multi agent system governed microgrids in Internet of Energy not investigated. In [35], a new distributed multi-agent framework based on the cloud layer computing architecture is developed for real-time microgrid economic dispatch and monitoring. In [36], the Time of Use (ToU) model is proposed to define the rates for shoulder-peak and on-peak hours.…”

“…Current emphases on renewable energy sources (RESs) have led to a high volume of integration of hybrid systems to smart grids. This high integration leads to some problems regarding the power quality, reliability, and stability of the electrical grid system [1]. The possible solution is the microgrid, which exhibits less power fluctuation, improved power quality, energy, and lower unbalance due to the hybrid renewable sources provided by the Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESSs) [2,3].…”

“…The possible solution is the microgrid, which exhibits less power fluctuation, improved power quality, energy, and lower unbalance due to the hybrid renewable sources provided by the Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESSs) [2,3]. Suitable EESSs could provide a crucial approach to overcome the uncertainties and intermittency of the RESs' generations [1,3,4]. Generally, EESS permits a reliable electricity production that can be used at high generation cost, high demand, or when no other generation means are available [2][3][4][5][6].…”
