A Novel Set of WNT Pathway Effectors as a Predictive Marker of Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma–Study Based on Weighted Co-expression Matrices

Abstract: Uterine corpus endometrial carcinomas (UCEC) are clinically divided into two subgroups—endometrioid endometrial carcinoma (EEC) or non-endometrioid endometrial carcinoma (NEEC). The first group shows relatively better prognosis. However, the discrimination seems to be insufficient due to the fact that in the mildest EEC are patients with poor treatment response and bad prognosis. Our aim was to examine the molecular background of such phenomenon and whether gene expression patterns might be of importance for t… Show more

“…Type II UCECs are nonendometrioid, are more likely to transfer, are always poorly differentiated, and can even be a palindromia after courageous clinical prevention. Conversely, Type I endometrial carcinomas are differentiated well and often endometrioid or carry other risk factors that induce estrogen deficiency, such as obesity [ 2 ].…”

“…Uterine serous carcinoma, as the major subset of type II UCEC, is observed in relatively older and nonobese women and has low levels of estrogen or progesterone receptors and frequent mutations in TP53 ( 17 , 33 , 34 ). Endometrioid endometrial carcinoma usually has a significantly better outcome than does serous haplotype, which is often less well differentiated ( 33 - 36 ). TCGA Research Network carried out array and sequencing analyses in 373 UCEC samples, and classified UCEC into 4 subsets according to the genomic features.…”

“…ST6GALNAC4 expression is related to glycosphingolipids synthesis, which has a connection with breast cancer ( 61 , 62 ). By using GSEA, tumor-related pathways like ERBB, TGF-BETA, and WNT were significantly enriched; these pathways are deemed to be associated with tumor, which could be used as novel therapeutic targets ( 63 65 ). Immune-related responses were significantly enriched in low-risk patients, which further validated the difference in immune status between the two risk groups.…”
