A novel sorbent based on carbon nanotube/amino‐functionalized sol–gel for the headspace solid‐phase microextraction of α‐bisabolol from medicinal plant samples using experimental design

Abstract: A novel sol-gel coating on a stainless-steel fiber was developed for the first time for the headspace solid-phase microextraction and determination of α-bisabolol with gas chromatography and flame ionization detection. The parameters influencing the efficiency of solid-phase microextraction process, such as extraction time and temperature, pH, and ionic strength, were optimized by the experimental design method. Under optimized conditions, the linear range was between 0.0027 and 100 μg/mL. The relative standar… Show more

“…The resulting mixture was refluxed with ethanol/dichloromethane (2:1) using a Soxhlet device and then centrifuged to remove possible impurities. The obtained Carbotrap B/silica precipitate was dried in an oven at 120 °C for 2 h. The prepared Carbotrap B/silica composite was crushed and granulated using ASTM standard sieves to obtain particles in the mesh size 40-60 [22]. ESM_2 shows the appearance of raw Carbotrap and Carbotrap/silica composite synthesized by sol-gel method (Online Resource 1).…”

“…In addition, sol-gel technique is a new method for synthesis of the sorbent with better homogeneity. This method can provide a higher pore size and thermal stability [19][20][21][22]. To the best of our knowledge, no studies have been performed in application of NTD packed with Carbotrap B/silica composite for the sampling and analysis of VOCs from air.…”

“…Recently, response surface methodology (RSM) has been popularly applied to increase the efficiency of contaminant removal in environmental remediation [22,23]. RSM can quantitatively evaluate interactive effects of multiple variables and effectively reduce the number of experimental variables.…”

“…The fibers used for extraction in HS‐SPME do not contact the sample containing the residues, which reduces matrix interference and background adsorption. HS‐SPME has been generally accepted as the best method to detect residues in complex water‐environment samples obtained from soil, vegetable, grain, and medicinal plant [15,17,23,24].…”
