A Novel Study on the Performance of a {3 x 3} Optical Phase Diversity FSK Receiver

Abstract: The performance of {3 x 3} optical phase diversity FSK receivers using delay-and-multiplying discriminator is analyzed by means of Gaussian and non-Gaussian methods, respectively. Non-Gaussian method utilizes the characteristic function to derive PDF of the noisy output. Shot, thermal, intensity, and phase noises are all considered and modeled as system imperfections.
