A novel wideband radial waveguide power combiner using coaxial-to-ridge waveguide transitions

Abstract: A novel wideband eight-way radial waveguide power combiner has been proposed in this paper. The proposed radial waveguide power combiner consists of a commercial N-type connector, a regular-octagon waveguide cavity, eight matching circuits, and eight coaxial-to-ridge waveguide transitions. The introduction of matching circuits is used to improve matching performance in the regular-octagon waveguide cavity. Besides, in order to guarantee the bandwidth performance and facilitate applications, eight coaxial-to-ri… Show more

“…UWB power divider (PD)/ synthesizer, as an essential component for power dividing or synthesizing in circuits or space, should not only behave high transmission efficiency, high waveform fidelity, but also should be as compact as possible [6,7,8,9]. When input by high-power signals, the impedance distribution of the transmission system is limited [10], the transmission line can adopt all-metal structure [11,12,13] or coaxial line with large transverse size [14,15]. The PD described in [16,17,18,19,20] showed advanced circular symmetry and their main ports were divided to more than 8 branches, which earned excellent transmission performance.…”

“…For an additional doubling in the number of unit amplifiers, Jia and York [11] and Jia et al [12] combined this concept with fin line tapers. Other exceptionally broadband combiner solutions were demonstrated using ridge waveguides as peripheral ports [13], [14].…”
