A One-Year, Multicenter, Retrospective Evaluation of Narrow and Low-Profile Abutments Used to Rehabilitate Complete Edentulous Lower Arches: The OT Bridge Concept

Abstract: Purpose: To evaluate preliminary data on survival and success rates of immediately loaded, screw-retained, restorations delivered on lower arches using narrow and low-profile OT Equator abutments. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed data of patients rehabilitated with OT Bridge (fixed prosthetic system built on OT Equator) prosthetic concept from November 2017 to February 2019 in five different centers. Outcome measures were implant and prosthetic survival rates, biological and technical complications, … Show more

“…b) System setup -After the creation of the 3D model, the specialized engineer will perform FEM of a schematized elaborate; bone will be schematized as cylindrical volumes and several 43 components will be tested, for each part of the assembly markers will be attributed, and the identi cation numbers will be as follow: abutments (1-6), screws (7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12), bridge (13), cortical bone cylinders (14-19), xtures (20-25), cancellous bone cylinders (26-31), Seeger rings (32-37), equators (38-43). This will allow analysis and comparison of ve different OT Bridge prosthesis system approaches for the rehabilitation of a completely edentulous maxilla.…”

“…In fact, in a recent publication on xed complete arches restorations, 3 out of 76 implants were connected to the prosthetic framework using only the Seeger system without a screw when the OT Bridge system (Rhein83®) was used. (12) In this regard, it is important to de ne a correct assembly criterion in concern to the possible number and distribution of abutments that could be used without screws together with achieving adequate stability of the OT bridge prosthesis. (13) Thus, the present study will be conducted to assess and compare the generated stresses and the prosthesis stability between different OT bridge prosthetic con gurations that differ in the number and distribution of employed retaining screws.…”

“…The study group of the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology in Japan also shows that recovery can be expected by various interventions before succumbing frailty [24]. In this way, it is important not only to maintain oral hygiene for preventing periodontitis and dental caries but also to restore oral function by placing an appropriate prosthesis for tooth loss [25][26][27][28][29]. Consequently, there is a growing awareness that the recovery and maintenance of oral function help delay the onset of conditions requiring nursing care, thereby helping to extend healthy life expectancy.…”

“…The OT bridge investigated in this research is a new restorative component that accommodate for different implant angulations up to 80 degrees and its configuration allow for a wire placement for splinting, accompanied by its low profile and width that provide better mechanical and biological outcomes. Only one multicentered study addressed the efficacy of the OT bridge, they reported preliminary data on survival and success rates of immediately loaded, screw-retained, implantsupported restorations delivered on lower arches using the novel OT equator and OT Bridge abutment prosthetic protocol (14) .…”
