A Parametrical Analysis on the Elastic Anisotropy of Woven Hierarchical Tissues

Abstract: In this paper, the elastic properties of 2‐D woven hierarchical tissues are modeled, considering matrix transformation and stiffness averaging, assuming the warp and fill yarns (level 0) an orthotropic material. The tissue at level 1 is considered as the fabric composed of warp and fill yarns at level 0. Warp and fill yarns at level 1 are defined as “pieces” of such 1‐level tissue and have a different mismatch between the inclination of their longitudinal axes and those of the composing sub‐fibers. Similarly, … Show more

“…In this paper, inspired by the hierarchical structure of natural materials (Fig. 2) (Cai, 2007;Gibson, 2005) and starting from an orthotropic material, we construct a new hierarchical honeycomb material (Pugno, 2006;Chen and Pugno, 2011a;, see Fig. 3 (Chen and Pugno, 2011b).…”

“…Wu et al [9] developed hierarchical mesoporous bioactive glass scaffolds with a controllable porosity, and enhanced mechanical strength and mineralization ability in the application of bone regeneration were also obtained. Moreover, Chen and Pugno [10,11] proposed a 2-D hierarchical woven scaffold, and theoretically studied its elastic behaviors.…”
