“…The previous studies are multiple analyses (level III, sample population: 997), [6] phantoms and cadaveric heads study (sample size: 83 vs 52, level II), [2] phantoms studies (level II), [7,20] simulated study (sample size 93, level II), [1] comprehensive review (level III), [8,17,21,22] and a pilot study (sample size 180, level II). [13] Reviews and multiple analyses have lack of experiment and limitation of languages. [21] Phantoms and simulated studies have limitations of demographic characters for the inclusion objects [2] and results are not totally generalized.…”

“…Being the more time-consuming subtests, developing a self-administered procedure for odor discrimination and threshold testing seems valuable for clinicians and research purposes. Lately, olfactory threshold can be measured by computerized devices in a self-administered manner (Jiang and Liang 2015). Costs of these devices however may exceed various research or clinic budgets.…”

“…The test is completed when 7 reversals are reached, and the geometric mean of the last 4 up-down transitions ("reversals") gives the threshold value. 5 A commercial version of this test was later developed. It is called the Smell Threshold Test™ (STT; Sensonics, Inc, Haddon Heights, New Jersey, USA).…”
