A portable immunosensor provides sensitive and rapid detection of Borrelia burgdorferi antigen in spiked blood

Abstract: There are no assays for detecting B. burgdorferi antigen in blood of infected Lyme disease individuals. Here, we provide proof-of-principle evidence that we can quantify B. burgdorferi antigen in spiked blood using a portable smartphone-based fluorescence microscope that measures immunoagglutination on a paper microfluidic chip.
